During the early 1960s Panhard hit upon the idea of making cars that looked like frogs. Here's a PL 17 (the PL was Panhard et Levassor, their full name).

Like the earlier Dyna Z models more. Up to '56 they used to have full aluminum bodies but after that Panhard changed to steel bodies in couple of years.
Here's a '54 Z1 model. I haven't been able to understand how the numbers go with Z but Z1 has always aluminum body.

Yes, they had to revert to steel as they found that aluminium was much too expensive.
They had a few at Rétromobile, such as this one ( a PL I think) showing just how compact the little flat engine was.

Dyna X was the first post war Panhard which was mostly aluminium, Dyna Z was completely aluminium in the beginning, but they used more steel later. The PL17 was basically a facelifted Dyna Z: interior is a bit different, head and tail light assemblies are different, and the front doors are hinged on the leading edge. That one was steel.

Note: no chrome brows, suicide doors, and that odd fog light.
